Innobyte: Optimization of online stores infrastructures makes a BIG difference in year-end discount campaigns

The software development company ended the 3rd quarter with a turnover of 7.6 million lei

 

 

Innobyte, a Romanian software development company specialized in eCommerce and one of the main players on this market, analyzes the most important actions that online stores must take to run successful campaigns in the busiest times of the year in terms of sales: Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Singles Day, Christmas.

An incorrectly managed sales peak, in which the online store is not technically prepared, can cause significant losses for a business with long-term consequences in terms of retaining or attracting new customers. Romanian consumers are becoming more and more familiar with discount campaigns, such as those of Black Friday or Christmas Sales, which is why their demands are also growing. They expect a fast, enjoyable browsing and buying process with no errors or long waiting times.

According to Innobyte experts, it is important that the IT infrastructure of online stores be prepared to cope with a spike in users, which is why it is necessary to scale it properly for the end-of-year discount period, which usually starts with Black Friday and spans Christmas and New Year. Infrastructure performance and scalability have a significant impact on the customer experience, and this is correlated with sales volume. Preparation for this period, however, begins long before. Depending on their complexity, the specifications are clarified and implemented 2-3 months in advance.

“Clients require the implementation of various functionalities and campaigns, which are often complex, successive, and some of them come short and involve a quick deadline for implementation. These periods require a very large volume of work in a very short time, and the advantage of Innobyte is that we have an agile team, which adapts quickly to such requirements”, said Cătălin Bordei, Innobyte Managing Partner.

 A key aspect is the analysis of the current infrastructure of the online store, involving monitoring the infrastructure, estimating traffic on the platform, identifying the right resources and solutions. Subsequent actions include database and server optimizations, database caching, web server scaling, resource addition, stress testing, infrastructure optimization, UX enhancement experience, and platform vulnerability identification and fixes.

“Compared to previous years, the platforms and IT infrastructures of online stores are much more stable and efficient. Most platforms used to shut down for long periods of time due to increased site traffic or increased number of orders. Then came a time when the platforms were functional, but moving quite slowly. In the last 2-3 years, most platforms are working very well as a result of investments in infrastructure and processes “, mentioned Alin Alexandru, CTO Innobyte.

 

 Turnover of 7.6 milion lei in Q3 2021

 

Innobyte ended the third quarter of 2021 with a turnover of 7.6 million lei, an increase of 26% compared to the same period last year, and a net profit of 1.76 million lei (+ 16.85%). The results are due both to the process of optimizing resources for project allocation and to the increased ability to mobilize the team to deliver to a high standard of quality.

Also in the third quarter, Innobyte attracted two major clients in the software development area. Last but not least, the increase in demand for consulting, automation, monitoring, intervention and maintenance for online stores has led to a substantial increase in the company’s business.

By the end of 2021, Innobyte estimates that it will approach the threshold of 10 million lei in turnover, and EBITDA will reach 2.2 million lei.
