GCS: Romania’s COVID-19 daily case count rises by 7.595; 28 deaths reported in the past 24hrs

A total of 7,595 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been reported in the past 24 hours and 28 deaths, the Strategic Communication Group reported on Sunday (GCS).

“According to the data available at the CNCCI level on January 16, at 10.00 am, within 24 hours, 7,595 cases of positive people with SARS-CoV-2 were recorded. Also, 28 deaths were reported. No one of the 28 deaths reported occurred prior to the reference,” said GCS.


COVID-19 incidence rate in Bucharest reaches 5.17 per thousand inhabitants


The incidence rate of COVID-19 reported for 14 days reached 5.17 cases per thousand inhabitants in Bucharest.

The previous day, the incidence was 4.62 per thousand inhabitants, according to the Public Health Directorate (DSP).

On January 12, the Capital City entered the red scenario, after exceeding the threshold of 3 cases per thousand inhabitants.

The highest rate of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the Capital was reached on October 22, 2021 – 16.54 cases per thousand inhabitants.
