Senate’s Citu: Lack of the green COVID certificate, a cost to economy and to society

President of the Senate, Liberal leader Florin Citu, declared on Monday that the lack of the EU Digital COVID Certificate is a problem at the moment, having a cost for the economy and for the society, which is not taken into account.

“From my point of view, it [the adoption of the Green Certificate in Parliament] was necessary. I understand that it is of no concern to anyone anymore and I understand that we have over 10,000 cases a day and these cases are rising. (…) For me, 10,000 infected people mean sick leave, it means people who have come into direct contact who are also staying at home or on other sick leave. And that means extra costs for companies and the state,” Citu explained, when asked by journalists, at the Palace of the Parliament, if he will propose again the adoption of this measure.

“I am also telling you that if this number rises, we may have companies that will shut down because they can’t operate, those people will have to stay home, so it’s a cost to the economy and to society that isn’t taken into account, in addition to the cost that we have with the energy,” he added, according to Agerpres..
