The number of OTP Bank’s customers who made banking transactions through Internet Banking increased by 75% during the pandemic

OTP Bank Romania announces a 75% increase in the number of customers who have made banking transactions through the Internet Banking service, OTPdirekt, in the interval 2020-2021, compared to 2019.

 

According to OTP Bank’s data, in the last two years, the number of Internet Banking service users has increased by 50%, and the value of online transactions has raised by 31%.

Also, during the analyzed period, there was an enhancement in the use of OTP Bank’s electronic products and services, with over 26,000 cards being activated in the Apple Pay and OTPay applications, the contactless payment services with the mobile phone.

“These procent increases reflect the satisfaction degree of OTP Bank Romania’s customers, in terms of safety and efficiency offered by these modern banking platforms and instruments. At the same time, the pandemic has intensified the use of digital services and products, and the preference for online banking transactions and operations has come naturally, in the detriment of those who require the use of cash. In 2022 we have planned new investments of approximately 50 million lei in IT and digitalization, as well as for the improvement of the existing technological solutions”, said Constantin Mareș, Deputy General Manager of OTP Bank Romania, Digital Division.

The main operations carried out by customers through Internet Banking are as follows: Money Magnet – fast money transfer, setting up deposits and savings accounts, investments, foreign exchanges and inter and intrabank transfers.

Most of Internet Banking users have made payments for utilities in general, or other payment obligations from other business relationships.

The trend towards digitalization that can be observed in recent years is also supported by the evolution of digital services offered by OTP Bank, by launching in 2020 and 2021 both new tools and improved versions for various services. Thus, in 2021, OTP Bank made investments in launching the 100% online Personal Loan, a fast-financing option, which significantly streamlines the interaction of customers with the bank. The diversification and upgrade of the digital also included the digital onboarding procedure. In 2020, OTP Bank launched new versions for the OTPdirekt and SmartBank services and the Octavian chatbot, the digital assistant that advises the bank’s customers in the process of suspending the payment of installments. The new digital tools aim to provide customers with an easy and safe user experience.
