Government to approve on Saturday maximum accommodation costs for Ukrainian refugees

The government is set to approve at its meeting on Saturday a decision on the maximum accommodation costs for Ukrainian refugees seeking shelter in Romania from the conflict in their country.

The Executive will decide on the draft decision approving the maximum amount of accommodation costs in locations designated by county/Bucharest municipality emergency committees for foreign citizens or stateless persons in special situations coming from the Ukraine war zone who do not apply for a form of protection according to Law No. 122/2006 on asylum in Romania, as well as the allocation of a certain amount from the 2022 Reserve Fund at the government’s disposal for supplementing the budget of the Ministry of the Interior.

The draft decision will be approved based on a decision of the National Committee for Emergency Situations adopted on Friday, providing the allocation of the necessary amounts to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations for covering of the expenses provided for in OUG No. 15/2022 on the provision of support and humanitarian assistance to foreign nationals or stateless persons in special situations coming from the Ukraine conflict zone.

According to Agerpres, the amounts shall be established by taking into account the expenses required for 30 days for:

* the daily housing of an average of 70,000 people, of whom 50,000 accommodated free of charge and 20,000 in spaces provided for a fee;

* the operation of 22 temporary accommodation and humanitarian assistance camps.
