President of Senate Citu , US Congress delegation discuss Romania’s energy security, strengthening NATO’s Eastern flank and tougher measures against Russia

Romania’s energy security, tougher measures against Russia, strengthening NATO’s Eastern flank and the impact of the war in Ukraine on the Romanian economy were the main topics of discussion addressed on Monday during the meeting of Senate President Florin Citu with a delegation headed by the leader of the Republican minority in the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy.

“It is a pleasure to meet again with Congressman Kevin McCarthy, the leader of the Republican minority in the US House of Representatives, and with the US Congress delegation. Romania is appreciated for being the first country that, last year, during my term in office as PM, banned Chinese companies from participating in public tenders in the fields of 5G infrastructure and telecommunications,” Citu wrote on Facebook on Monday.

According to the President of the Senate, the members of the US delegation thanked Romania for how it manages the refugee crisis in Ukraine.

“We will continue to expand and increase bilateral relations with the US Congress,” Citu added.
