Union leader Radoi, indicted by DNA prosecutors for influence peddling and blackmail

Ion Radoi, the chairman of the Unitatea – Sindicatul Liber din Metrou (Metrorex union), was indicted by the prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) in a case where he is accused for influence peddling and blackmail, DNA informed on Monday.

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the prosecutors within the National Anticorruption Directorate – Service for investigating crimes assimilated to corruption have indicted Ion Radoi, under judicial control, at the time of the act and currently chairman of the Unitatea – Sindicatul Liber din Metrou (USLM) union, and administrator of Sindomet Servcom (company owned by USLM), for the crimes of peddling influence or authority by a person who holds a position of leadership in a trade union, the purpose being to receive unlawful goods (7 material acts) and blackmail, but also of an administrator of a commercial company, for complicity to the crime of peddling influence or authority by one person who holds a leadership position in a trade union, in order to receive unlawful goods (3 material acts).

The anticorruption prosecutors note in the indictment that in the current cause it is investigated on how Radoi used his influence and authority as a union leader in order to receive unlawful goods by exploiting and managing commercial spaces from subway stations and access ways to the metro, during the period of September 2017 – July 2021.

DNA informs that through the above-mentioned acts, the following unlawful goods were generated for Sindomet Servcom, which obtained, from outside of a contractual legal framework, income of over 10 million RON (10,391,843 RON), for the company and the Sindomet Servcom traders as a result of exploiting commercial spaces after the associate contract expired and for a company controlled by Ion Radoi’s son, income of 86,400 Euro, without VAT, from sub-leasing a space to a retailer that was located in a subway station (after September 2018 and until 2021).

The case was sent to the Bucharest Tribunal with a proposal of maintaining precautionary and preventive measures taken in question.
