PM Ciuca meets representatives of the Meridian Trade Union Confederation : Government to consider more “Support for Romania” measures

Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca told officials of the Meridian Trade Union Confederation at a meeting on Wednesday that by the end of next week new regulations for the implementation of economic and social measures that are part of the “Support for Romania” package will be on the government’s table.

According to a government news statement, Ciuca held consultations at the Government House with Meridian Confederation discussing solutions to protect citizens from the effects of rising energy and basic commodities prices, improving living conditions and working conditions for employees.

“By the end of next week, new regulations for the implementation of economic and social measures that are part of the ‘Support for Romania’ package will be on the government’s table,” Ciuca is quoted as saying in the statement.

The prime minister also mentioned ensuring stability in the energy sector until April 2023 by applying measures to offset rising energy and natural gas prices.

He also underscored the government’s openness to dialogue with the social partners in order to identify the most appropriate solutions to the problems that society and the economy face.

Also attending the meeting were chief of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery Mircea Abrudean and Minister of Labour and Social Security Marius Budai.
