Romania, Italy sign Memorandum of Understanding on labor cooperation and exchange of information

Romania will work with Italy to have the retirement contributions of Romanian nationals who work in this country certified and confirmed, thus cutting the waiting time for persons entitled to a pension, Labor Minister Marius Budai announced on Wednesday at the Victoria Palace of Government.

Earlier in the day, Italy’s Minister of Labor and Social Policies Andrea Orlando had stated that the improvement of cooperation in the social security sector had been proposed during his meeting with his Romanian counterpart, because many workers are facing delays in the recognition of their working stints in Italy for their pension plan. The Italian official also said that this issue will be settled in the coming weeks or months through an act that will be signed in Italy too.

Minister of Labor and Social Solidarity Marius Budai and Italy’s Minister of Labor and Social Policies Andrea Orlando signed on Wednesday at the Victoria Palace of Government the Memorandum of Understanding on labor cooperation and exchange of information between the Romanian Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Italian Republic’s Ministry of Labor and Social Policies.
