The Romanian optical retailer, Lensa, celebrates 9 years of activity, with a cumulative turnover of over 40 million euros

After 9 years of activity, the Romanian optical retailer, Lensa, records a cumulative turnover for the period May 2013 – April 2022 of over 40 million euros (over 200 million lei). In the last two years, the company’s turnover has increased by 97% (in 2020), respectively by 50% (in 2021), and today Lensa is positioned among the largest optical retailers in Romania.

Investments in expanding the Lensa store chain are growing year by year. Currently, the Lensa network of specialized showrooms has 21 units throughout the country and an online store, Lensa.ro.

Of the 21 showrooms, 14 were inaugurated between January 2021 and April 2022. Expansion at the national level was possible due to sustained own investments, which currently amount to about 2.5 million euros.

In order to make the business more efficient, Lensa has closely followed the digitization of as many operations as possible. Today, about 70% of daily operations are digitized in online platforms, accessible to all business areas within the company.

“We look at the numbers and we are happy to see that we are getting closer to reaching our goal with which we set out, to offer Romanians 1 million free optometric consultations. In   9 years of activity, Lensa is more than just an optical retailer. We are here to meet the most demanding needs, we have with us the most important suppliers of medical optics products and services worldwide, we hire top optometrists and consultants and we make constant efforts to provide our customers with quality services, at the European standard,”  said Daniel Crăciun, CEO and founder of Lensa.

In its 9 years of existence, Lensa has offered Romanians 510,000 free optometric consultations and registered 984,800 completed orders, serving over 548,900 customers. For the year 2022, the company’s objectives are sales of 19 million euros and the inauguration of at least 8 new stores.

Between May 2 and June 1, Lensa celebrates 9 years of existence with an extensive campaign of discounts of up to 90% on all product categories, available both on Lensa.ro and in stores.

 

Sales of 16 million euros in 2021 and investments of about 2 million euros in expanding the chain of stores nationwide

 

Lensa ended 2021 with sales of 16 million euros, up 50% from the previous year, reaching a cumulative turnover in the 8 years of existence of 37.3 million euros. Following a total investment of about 2 million euros, Lensa opened in 2021 eight new stores in Romania, equipped with its own optometric cabinets and ended the year with a network of 15 showrooms nationwide.

The largest investment, worth 750,000 euros, was allocated to the opening of the largest optical showroom in Central and Eastern Europe, in Bucharest, with an area of ​​more than 1,000 square meters. Lensa also opened seven more stores in 2021 in Galați, Pitești, Ploiești, Sibiu, Târgu Mureș, Arad and Oradea.

“We are gradually increasing the value of our investments in the Lensa showroom network. Last year we inaugurated eight units, double the number opened in 2020. Therefore, it was also the year with the largest investments in expansion. We are happy with the positive results we record every year and we are confident that in 2022 we will achieve all the business objectives we set for ourselves. We plan to open at least eight new stores and sales of at least 19 million euros this year, ”said Daniel Crăciun, CEO and founder of Lensa.

Due to the expansion at the national level, the segment that generated the most important increase in sales was that of eyeglasses, supported by the free consultation service provided by the company to its customers. The sunglasses were in second place and the contact lenses in third place.

In 2021, Lensa exceeded 330,000 orders in stores across the country and on Lensa.ro and offered over 220,000 free optometric consultations.
