The Minister of Finance, Adrian Caciu, estimates that at least 10 billion RON will be saved following the 10% reduction of expenses from ministries for goods and services.
“I am referring to the general consolidated budget,” he declared during a press conference at Victoria Palace, after the Government session.
“Money will be enough if we start saving and if we do it in advance. It was very important to make this decision, from my standpoint, in a tighter horizon, in the sense of making the decision now and not when it will be rectified, in the context in which we arrived with a series of measures, and I believe that these are substantial measures, during these five months since the start of the year (…) which requires, in the end, a redistribution. I said it from the beginning that the economy is our priority, the citizens are our priority. At this moment, I believe that we can identify savings in the budget of authorizing officers, without affecting investments, without affecting social assistance, pensions or salaries, so that we can have the financing sources, along with increasing revenue in the state budget and along with increasing absorption for these support programs,” he explained, according to Agerpres.
According to Adrian Caciu, the savings will not be targeted exclusively to goods and services, because there are also other chapters where similar measures can be taken.
Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca asked the Ministers on Wednesday to take the necessary measures to ensure the reduction of expenses for goods and services by 10%, according to the decision made within the governing coalition, mentioning that the action is one of solidarity in the current economic and financial conditions.
