Romania will be next to Ukraine, which must win this war, and at this moment Vladimir Putin is responsible for being a war criminal, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, said on Tuesday at the inauguration of the photo exhibition organized by the Ukrainian Embassy, in the presence of Oleksandr Kornienko, the First Deputy President of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
“Here an artist shows the current reality of Ukraine. We assure the Vice-President that Romania, as before, will be among the biggest supporters of Ukraine, and we have seen not only the involvement of the authorities, but the direct involvement of the Romanians in the crisis of the Ukrainian refugees and the fact that we are all next to Ukraine face to this totally unjust, unfair, unprovoked war. And it is obvious that, at the moment, Vladimir Putin is responsible for being a war criminal,” Ciolacu said.
“Romania will be next to Ukraine. Ukraine must win this war, we will get involved logistically, both at the level of the Executive and the Legislative, as well as with our expertise to support the accession of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia to the European Union. Ukraine, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova are parts of Europe, and their place is next to the European Union. A decision of a sovereign state cannot be sanctioned by another state. I have never thought that in 2022 we will have another war in Europe, that’s why all civilized countries must shield around Ukraine, help Ukraine overcome these moments and especially win this war,” the PSD leader added, according to Agerpres.
Oleksandr Kornienko thanked the Bucharest authorities for their support and recalled that Ukrainian photojournalist Max Levin was killed in the very first phase of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“Maxim was basically documenting Russia’s war crimes. Unfortunately, these struggles continue today in the Eastern part of Ukraine, in the southern part of Ukraine and, thanks to his dedication, everyone has the opportunity to know what is happening in reality, what Russia is doing now in Ukraine. This fight will continue and our duty is to stop this war, to stop Russia. I thank the Romanian people for the support of Ukraine,” Oleksandr Kornienko said.
The two officials were present, in the foyer in front of the plenary hall, at the photo exhibition themed “Chronicles of a Russian invasion in Ukraine 2022: the beginning”. The photographs on display belong to Ukrainian photojournalist Max Levin, killed by Russian army forces while exercising his profession.
The exhibition ends on June 28 and aims to bring to the attention of the European Union the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The opening took place in the context of the visit to Bucharest of the First Deputy President of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kornienko.
Marcel Ciolacu earlier had a meeting with the Ukrainian guest, in which he stressed the desire for our country to concentrate European and international financial resources to support the process of reconstruction of Ukraine.
“In addition to many other aspects related to the development of transport connections with Europe, I believe that it is necessary to quickly install in Ukraine a commercial, economic and humanitarian team to facilitate the reconstruction process, but also tax facilities for Romanian companies and local authorities that will want to invest there,” Ciolacu wrote, on Facebook, regarding the meeting.
