To celebrate its quarter century anniversary in Romania, global law firm Dentons hosted a client reception at the newly-opened Above Lounge in Bucharest on 22 June 2022. The event was attended by leading members of Romania’s business community as well as Dentons colleagues from Bucharest and around Europe.
The Bucharest office opened in 1997 as Altheimer & Gray, the first international law firm to operate in the Romania market. Altheimer & Gray’s Bucharest office combined with pan-European firm Salans in 2003, which in turn combined with SNR Denton and Fraser Milner Casgrain in 2013 to form Dentons.
Today, Dentons’ Bucharest office comprises 43 lawyers and professionals. The team of Romanian, UK and US qualified lawyers provides a comprehensive range of legal services to international and domestic companies as well as government institutions.
“Over the last 25 years, we have stood by our clients in good times and bad – advising them on landmark transactions and their most complex business challenges. Our lawyers have also helped shape the legal and business environment of Romania,” Perry V. Zizzi, Managing Partner of Dentons Romania (photo). “Looking forward, we remain committed to the market and will continue to help our clients grow, protect, operate and finance their businesses. While the world economy faces unprecedented uncertainty, Romania remains an attactive location for business. According to a recent pulse survey we carried out among our clients in Romania, despite concerns about the war in Ukraine, inflation and general political instability, 50% of companies remain optimistic about the prospects of the Romanian economy, and 98% expect their own business to do as well or better this year as compared to 2021.”
Speaking at the event, Tomasz Dąbrowski, CEO of Dentons Europe, said: “We are grateful to our clients for their loyalty to our Firm and for being part of our incredible journey in Romania. Relying on the talent and experience of our lawyers and professionals in Bucharest, Dentons will continue to provide high-quality, innovative legal advice, while challenging the status quo within the legal sector. We will also continue to make a positive impact on the community through pro bono, charitable giving and other forms of outreach.”
To mark the anniversary, Dentons will donate €25 per guest at the gala celebration to the Romanian Red Cross. The donation will be used to help Ukrainian children and families displaced by war.
