Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said on Friday that it was essential to ensure the supply of natural gas in an amount that covers the citizens’ needs and also allows industrial activities to be carried out in good conditions, noting that the start of the exploitation of the Black Sea gas resources has supplemented by ten percent the domestic production, and institutions and companies must now focus on increasing production, storage and extraction capacities.
The Prime Minister convened at Victoria Palace of Government the meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group for Regional Energy Security (GLISE), where the situation of gas supply necessary for both households and the functioning of the economy was analyzed.
According to a Government press release, the participants with duties in the field showed that the supply schedule for natural gas deposits is within the agreed parameters, Romania already depositing more than half of the target assumed at European level, of 80 percent, respectively 43 percent.
“It is essential to ensure quantities that allow both the supply of citizens and the smooth running of industrial activities. After the start of exploitation in the Black Sea, which supplemented by ten percent the internal natural gas production capacities, the efforts of the responsible institutions and companies must focus on increasing the production capacities, storage and extraction from deposits,” the prime minister said according to the cited source.
