Sibiu International Theatre Festival comes to an end: 10 days in which the city was transformed into a huge stage

The largest edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS) came to an end on Sunday evening, after ten days in which the city was transformed into a huge stage for 3,500 participants out of 75 of countries, with hundreds of events that brought premiers and especially audience records, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES.

“Magic and emotion engulfed the entire city and its surroundings in the ten days, and the joy of meeting again with the performing arts was matched only by the beauty that thousands of artists shared with the public through their art. From the calculations of this moment, it is estimated that the daily average number of participants in FITS was 85,000, and the most varied exhibitions, a sky of magnets and a Horizontal Newspaper, a totem to Frumiria, various installations, from the Great Square to the Promenada Mall, filled the city with creativity, many of them can be admired at any time of the day or night throughout the Festival!,” the same press release reads.

Dozens of outdoor and open access events have delighted the hearts and souls of those present in overwhelming numbers in Sibiu these days. Various concerts, theatre, circus, acrobatics and even a puppy artist received enthusiastic applause.

“It is the largest edition so far, but also the one that brings us – me and the whole team of the Festival – the greatest joy and satisfaction so far. We have seen people gathered together for art in incomprehensible crowds, breathing BEAUTY in unison, we had the opportunity to hold memorable meetings that will build the premises for future FITS editions that we are already preparing. I want to thank all our partners, without whom this miracle wouldn’t have been possible, artists who shared their gift with us, to the team, the community in Sibiu that receives our embrace every year and, above all, I thank His Majesty, the Public! We are waiting for you in Sibiu at FITS2023, between June 23rd and July 2nd, for the 30th edition of the Festival!,” said Constantin Chiriac, President of FITS and General Director of TNRS.

This edition of FITS also recorded impressive figures in terms of online presence. For the first time, based on the partnership with Tik Tok, FITS broadcast the first live theatre show for users on this platform, along with four other events within the Festival. In total, during the ten days of the Festival, the hashtag #magiaFITS enjoyed more than one million views on TikTok, with 150,000 users watching the five broadcasts live.

The FITS mobile application has been accessed 10,000 times, and in these ten days the FITS site had over 70,000 visitors.

The seven editions of FITS Talk, another premiere this year, have so far gathered 20,000 views, 50,000 users have seen the messages and videos on the FITS Instagram channel and 600,000 Romanians have seen the FITS messages on Facebook.

The 30th edition of the Sibiu International Festival will take place between June 23 and July 2, 2023.
