The Government is to approve in Wednesday’s meeting a draft law for the ratification of the Accession Protocols to the North Atlantic Treaty of the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden.
The protocols were signed in Brussels on July 5.
“By ratifying these protocols, Romania expresses its consent for Finland and Sweden to become the 31st and 32nd member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance, respectively. The integration of these states, firmly anchored in the values of the Euro-Atlantic community and with a considerable capacity to strengthen the security of the Alliance will be a valuable strategic gain for the Alliance”, according to the explanatory memorandum of the draft normative act.
The protocols will enter into force after all NATO member states have completed the necessary domestic legal procedures.
The Ciuca Cabinet is to discuss on Wednesday also draft law on Romania’s accession to the Convention on the registration of objects launched into outer space, opened for signature in New York on January 14, 1975. According to the draft, the Romanian Space Agency establishes and administers the national registry of the objects launched into outer space.
The agenda of the Government’s meeting also includes a draft ordinance for amending and supplementing Law no. 95/2006 on health care reform.
The Executive is also to approve a draft decision on the allocation of amounts from the Budget Reserve Fund available to the Government this year to supplement the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to provide direct support for the benefit of the Republic of Moldova in order to meet urgent needs and for the implementation of Romania’s commitments at the Berlin Conference on April 5, 2022. In Berlin, Romania announced a support of 10 million euros for the Republic of Moldova.
The Government will also analyze the Economic, Social and Environmental Development Strategy of the Jiu Valley 2022 – 2030, which aims at the socio-economic reconfiguration of the area and addresses the problems of the area in a “coherent” way.
