Romania’s Crown Custodian Margareta welcomes David Popovici and other champion swimmers at Elisabeta Palace

Prince Radu: You are a very beautiful example for our society

Her Majesty Margareta, the Custodian of the Romanian Crown, and His Royal Highness Prince Radu received, on Monday, at the Elisabeta Palace, a delegation of young athletes, swimming champions. The athletes David Popovici, Robert Glinta, Vlad Stancu, Patrick Dinu, Stefan Cozma, Alexandru Constantinescu, Aissia Prisecariu, Anastasia Bako and Constantin Popovici were present, along with their coaches, as well as members of the management of the Romanian Swimming and Modern Pentathlon Federation.

In addressing the young athletes, swimming champions, who came for the first time to the Elisabeta Palace, on Monday, Prince Radu told them that they are a “very beautiful example” for the entire Romanian society.

“Welcome to the Elisabeta Palace. Her Majesty and I have been waiting for this moment for a long time. We have watched with great pride and joy how you have evolved so beautifully this year and the fact that on this beautiful autumn morning we can be your hosts makes us very happy. You are a very beautiful example for the entire Romanian society and especially for your generation, which needs to look at such models,” said Prince Radu, according to Agerpres.

Swimmer David Popovici thanked for the “invitation and high honour” to be present at the Elisabeta Palace and urged everyone to practice sports, for a “healthier and better” society.

“We are proud of the results we have achieved this year. I am convinced that we will continue to have great results, maybe even greater ones. I would like to remind you that our goal is a simple one: we have a simple mission, that to encourage as many people as possible to do sports, because I believe that this will lead to a healthier society and a better society altogether,” said Popovici.

In her turn, the chair of the Romanian Modern Swimming and Pentathlon Federation, Camelia Potec, said that she hoped the visit to the Elisabeta Palace will be “the beginning of a long collaboration, because the future generations need all the support they can get.”
