DNA request on computer search in MP, former mayor Daniel Tudorache case, approved in Chamber of Deputies

The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies approved, on Monday, the National Anticoruption Directorate (DNA) request regarding the computer search in the case of PSD Deputy Daniel Tudorache, with 243 votes “for” and 10 “against”.

The vote was cast in secret, with balls.

Deputy Daniel Tudorache of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) on Monday called on his fellow lawmakers to vote for the approval of the anti-corruption watchdog’s request to conduct an electronic device search in his case.

“Dear colleagues, (…) I am asking you to agree or approve the search of my phone. I have nothing to hide and I want you to vote for the search of my phone,” Tudorache asked in the plenary sitting.

On November 16, the Minister of Justice requested the Chamber of Deputies to approve the search in the case of Deputy Daniel Tudorache, following the request to this effect by the Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor’s Office next to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, in file no. 161/P/2020 of the DNA in which the MP is prosecuted for illegal and overvalued purchases during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On October 21, the DNA announced that the former mayor from Bucharest District 5 Marian Vanghelie and the former mayor from Bucharest District 1 Daniel Tudorache are being prosecuted in a file regarding illegal and overvalued purchases during the COVID-19 pandemic.
