The deficit of the general consolidated budget went up, to 4.2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in the first eleven months of this year, from 3.37% of the GDP, at October-end, according to the data the Finance Ministry (MF) published on Tuesday.
Compared to the similar period of 2021, when it accounted for 4.7% of the GDP, the budget deficit dropped 0.5 percentage points in the January-November interval, the MF points out.
“The execution of the general consolidated budget in the eleven months of 2022 concluded with a 58.70 billion lei deficit. Expressed as percentage of the Gross Domestic Product, the budget deficit registered a 0.5 percentage point decrease in the eleven months of 2022 compared with the same period of 2021, from 4.7% of the GDP, to 4.2% from the GDP,” the Finance Ministry shows.
The deficit target for the current year is 5.8% of the GDP.
