Border Police: About 4 million winter holiday cross-border travelers in Romania

Approximately 4 million people with approximately one million means of transport have cleared Romania’s border checkpoints between December 16, 2022 – January 5, 2023, with 2.15 million on the inbound and 1.8 million on the outbound, the Border Police Inspectorate General (IGPF) reports.

Compared to the same period last year, there was a 75 percent increase in border traffic, with the highest numbers being recorded at the crossing points with Hungary, where approximately 1.4 million people checked on both directions, and through airports – 1.2 million passengers.

Information about the situation at the border crossing points open to international traffic is available on the Trafic on-line app that can be accessed at http://www.politiadefrontiera.ro/traficonline/.

The Border Police has also a hotline available at 021.9590 for reports on various aspects related to the way the border crossing check was carried out.
