Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu had a phone conversation with his Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen, whom he wished a very successful mandate. Among the topics discussed over the phone also tackled were the common priorities of Romania and Denmark.
“Excellent talk with my colleague Lars Loekke wishing a very successful mandate as new Danish Foreign Minister! Discussed joint priorities of our very good Romanian-Danish cooperation, including enhanced unity and security at EU level. Thanked for the reconfirmation of DK’s firm and engaged support for RO’s Schengen accession,” Aurescu wrote on Monday on his Twitter page.
According to a Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) release, the two ministers referred also to the difficult security context marked by Russia’s war against Ukraine, highlighting the importance of joint action at European and international level in order to respond through efficient solutions to the crisis generated by the Russian aggression.
Minister Bogdan Aurescu brought to mind the measures which Romania took to support Ukraine, mentioning that over 3.3 million refugees entered Romania, and over 11 million tons of Ukrainian grains and agricultural products transited Romania’s soil.
Moreover, minister Aurescu showed that Romania wants to capitalise on the Danish expertise in terms of migration, in order to identify efficient solutions, an active cooperation of Romania and Denmark at European level, the MAE mentions.
On this occasion, the head of the Romanian diplomacy renewed the invitation extended to his Danish counterpart in December, last year, to pay an official visit to Bucharest, the quoted source showed.
