Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at 19.00 – Contracorriente (Undertow), directed by Javier Fuentes- León, Peru, 2009, 100 minutes (photo);

Synopsis: An unusual story taking place on the Peruvian coast, where Miguel (Cristian Mercado), a married fisher, who will become a father, tries to keep an improbable balance between his passion for his lover and his family. A much-awarded movie. Sundance Festival (2010) – Public’s Award – Drama (World Cinema), the Goya Awards: nomination for the Best Spanish-American Movie (2010); the Macondo Awards (2010) – The Best Actor in a Leading Role, awarded to Manolo Cardona.

Synopsis: The story of Ana, who wakes up in the middle of some intrigues dominated by blackmail and ambivalence, after her husband rents the garden of their house to film a soap opera. A world more and more alike with the real world.

Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 19.00 – Locos de amor (Crazy in Love), directed by Frank Pérez-Garland, Peru, 2016, 100 minutes;

Synopsis: The story of four girls belonging to the same family, who live in the same house and who are facing various living situations: love and hate, a number of tragic-comic adventures that they face easily and joyful. Musical comedy.

Friday, November 10, 2017, at 19.00 – Pantaleon y las visitadoras (Pantaleon and the visitors), directed by Francisco J. Lombardi, 137 minutes, 1999.

Synopsis: A movie based on the homonymous novel by Mario Vargas Llosa in which the worthy Captain Pantaleon Pantoja receives the task to become a pimp. He is sent in a lost city in the Amazonian Selva, where soldiers rape women they meet, an unusual preacher convinces the locals to crucify insects, hens and any living body. The outcomes: the birth increase, full orphanages, human sacrifices. Pantaleon has to handle all this mess.
